Wheel Care

Wheel care is very important for high end custom wheels. Chrome finishes can be a problem if they are not cared for correctly. If cared for correctly there is no reason at all why your chrome wheels should not last for many years, and continue to display the fantastic finish they were delivered with. We recommend the same care regime for all wheels, whether they have chromed, painted, lacquered or powder coat finishes. Follow these few simple steps and your investment will last for years to come.

• Clean you wheels at least once per week with soapy water and a soft cloth or soft bristle brush. Ensure all brake pad dust and road grime is removed from every part of the wheels, including around the bolts and fine detail. DO NOT use harsh, abrasive or corrosive cleaners as these will damage the finish. In the winter you may need to clean your wheels more than once per week, especially if the roads are particularly salty. Road salt and brake dust eats away at the finish and once the finish is pitted the wheel will ruin very quickly.
• Once cleaned, dry the wheels with a soft, clean towel.
• Apply a coat of wheel wax to the entire wheel, ensuring no parts are missed. This will protect the wheels and stop particles from sticking to the wheel. Some silicone based products do a similar job, but we recommend a good quality wax as the best protection.

If in the winter the roads are gritted particularly heavily, or for a prolonged period, we would recommend that you remove your custom wheels and replace with your standard wheels as a precaution. However we know of individuals who have high quality chrome wheels (not the cheaper, low quality products that we do not sell) on their vehicle constantly for in excess of 3 years and the wheels are in perfect condition. This is simply down to constant and thorough care of their wheels.
